Previously offered as only an ASP, Uniscape's globalization software is now available by license to automate manual processes involved in the globalization management of enterprise content in Web sites, documents, databases, applications and other content sources, the company reports.

Uniscape 4.0 is also available to partners interested in licensing the software to create a managed service for small- to-medium-sized enterprises that, independently, do not have the IT resources to maintain a globalization system or whose volume of content is too small to warrant one, but who still have multilingual requirements and want to enjoy the efficiencies of automated localization processes.

The Uniscape Globalization Management System is an enterprise application that automates the business processes required to localize customer, partner, and employee information worldwide. it includes three software modules: Global Content Manager, Localization Manager and Translator Studio.

The Global Content Manager connects the Uniscape GMS to an enterprise's content repositories, leveraging content in existing file systems, databases and content management systems, such as Documentum FileNet, Interwoven and vignette. It detects changes in content and notifies the content owner, who decides what localization is required.

Uniscape reports the Localization Manager automates the localization process by routing projects to the appropriate localization team, monitoring project status, forecasting and managing costs and identifying linguistic content within enterprise files. It extracts the content for translation, segmenting the content into translation units, referencing translation units against a centralized translation memory and enterprise glossary; and where matches are found, providing the relevant information to translators.

Translator Studio is a desktop application that serves as the reviewer's primary translation tool and provides a complete set of functions in an intuitive interface.
