The long arm of compliance

HiSoftware has unveiled Compliance Sheriff, a hosted management solution that provides testing and reporting for standards-based policies, including accessibility and privacy. The company says the offering allows organizations to integrate a comprehensive and automated solution for managing Web governance standards as part of a corporate risk management strategy.

HiSoftware says Compliance Sheriff allows users to easily define and conduct custom tests for an organization's unique policies without any costly programming or consulting. Its dashboard reporting feature offers multiple reporting levels for reviewing Web site status, allowing management to review high-level statuses while developers view pass or fail details for remediation.

The company explains that Compliance Sheriff's modules allow users to test for standards-based and custom factors. They include:

  • accessibility compliance for Section 508, WCAG 1.0 and WCAG 2.0, CLF, XAG and any standard derived from WCAG or Section 508;
  • privacy policy compliance, which reports on a number of multinational regulatory and compliancy standards (including the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the U.S. Privacy Act and other key US and international standards); and
  • custom guideline and policy compliance for all content including but not limited to: HTML, XHTML, SVG, XML and any other text or element-based content.
