Technology Distribution Council Formed

A group of nine leading high-tech distributors has come together to form the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC). The GTDC was formed to promote the benefits of two-tier distribution, and spur the development of industry standards. The formation of the council brings together competitors in the distribution channel "to speak with one voice on issues that are most important to our industry," said David Dukes, chairman of the GTDC. Members of the council include: CHS Electronics (Miami); Computer 2000 AG (Munich, Germany);

Electronic Resources (Singapore); Ingram Micro (Santa Ana, CA); Merisel (El Segundo, CA); MicroAge (Tempe, AZ); Synnexx Information Technologies (Fremont, CA); Tech Data (Clearwater, FL) and Tech Pacific Holdings Ltd. (Lane Cove, Australia). The first meeting of the GTDC was held January 8 in Santa Ana, co-hosted by Ingram Micro and MicroAge; the next meeting will be in Miami, co-hosted by CHS and Tech Data.
