Taming the information bear

In its new family of software that include Discovery System and Classification Server PurpleYogi says it delivers a complete solution for organizing and managing an enterprise’s unstructured information. The company explains that Discovery System automates the process of organizing, classifying and presenting unstructured text-based information, while Classification Server delivers classification technology that can be embedded into existing corporate applications.

PurpleYogi says the Discovery System automatically collects designated document sources including corporate repositories, intranets, external Web sites and PC-shared folders and organizes the documents into a set of topics specific to a particular business. Then, using statistical, keyword and rule-based technologies, the software classifies existing information--as well as incoming documents--into an information hierarchy. Finally, the software delivers targeted information to appropriate users.

Using the same core technology in the Discovery System, the Classification Server can be integrated with a variety of existing enterprise applications such as search engines, document and content management systems, portals, CRM tools, etc.
