Tacit ships ActiveNet 1.0

Tacit Knowledge Systems has released ActiveNet, its much-anticipated new enterprise software product developed with extensive input from Tacit’s customers over a 12-month cycle of focused product innovation.

ActiveNet is said to represent a breakthrough for collaboration and information sharing in large or complex organizations. The software reportedly ensures that workers always know whom they should be talking to and what they should be talking about, continuously driving and coordinating the most valuable collaboration and sharing activity.

Tacit says ActiveNet continuously analyzes the work being done in an organization and makes sure that people doing related work are brought together to collaborate and share critical information. Like previous Tacit products, ActiveNet includes capabilities for fully automated activity and expertise discovery, intelligent “people search” and contact brokering. However, says Tacit, ActiveNet significantly extends the technology, with new capabilities for automatic person-to-person networking, automated categorization, managed discussionsn and content sharing.

ActiveNet also includes major architectural enhancements. The software can operate with any IMAP enabled e-mail server, any J2EE compliant Web server. No desktop deployment is required and the software can run on Microsoft or Oracle databases.
