Sybase rolls out repository with object and data tool

With Sybase PowerDesigner 7.5, business analysts, designers, database administrators, developers and project managers have access to a single tool that allows them to take advantage of both object modeling and data modeling techniques with full repository capabilities. The rapid application development design tool enables designers and developers to improve productivity throughout the development cycle from analysis and design through database schema generation and business objectgeneration.

PowerDesigner 7.5 features improved Unified Modeling Language (UML), class diagram modeling and an enhanced repository for refined enterprise modeling. Multiple users can simultaneously store and share design information at the same time.

• an easy-to-use interface,

• application/business logic/persistence design using the UML class diagram,

• the ability to generate and reverse engineer Java and XML, and

• data modeling for all major relational databases.

With the new repository option, PowerDesigner 7.5 also features:

• a centralized, enterprise-class repository;

• the ability to define permissions and access rights for users and groups;

• a consolidation and extraction mechanism to detect and manage conflicts;

• versioning at the object level ;
