As part of its Lucid University program, Lucid Imagination announces live, four-day, interactive online courses covering Solr search and Big Data. The classes will take place each day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST on Jan. 16-19, 2012 and again on Feb. 21-24 and March 19-22 at the same times. The company says Scaling Search with Big Data & Solr begins with an explanation of Hadoop, including MapReduce, HDFS (the Hadoop Distributed File System), cluster management, "the shuffle," etc., before continuing on to connecting it to Solr. The classes will include two days of lectures from Lucid Imagination trainers and two days of instruction from Scale Unlimited’s Ken Krugler, an expert in scalable, reliable data analytics, workflow design and Web mining. Lucid Imagination also offers another online course in Q1 2012, Solr Essentials.
