Storage Dimensions Announces Restructuring Plans

In an effort to return to profitability, Storage Dimensions (Milpitas, CA) has announced its intent to reduce sales, administrative and general expenses by 20%. Included in these plans are the reduction of sales staff and the closing of five single-person sales offices. Storage Dimensions will incur a one-time charge of $1.1 million to implement the changes, to be reflected in Q1 '98 results. "The staff reductions were a necessary step in reducing SG&A spending," said president and CEO David Eeg, though customer-oriented divisions like tech support and customer service were not affected. The plans are independent of a recently announced planned merger with

Artecon (Carlsbad, CA), according to representatives from both companies.
