Star power--P2P and KM

1stWorks and Morningstar have formed an alliance designed to blend peer-to-peer connectivity technology with knowledge management solutions. The agreement calls for Morningstar to integrate 1stWork’s hotComm into software and services, which help companies identify, prioritize and communicate their knowledge management initiatives.

Based on 1stWorks’ Peer Network, hotComm is said to provide efficient private interactive access to, or exchange of, text, speech or files between registered peers across the Internet. The company explains that any user may be a client or server or both, and users do not have to be aligned with a particular ISP. Hotcomm includes IM-Live, which delivers secure and serverless Internet-based instant messaging.
