SmartPatents Unveils System for Intellectual Property Assets

SmartPatents (Mountain View, CA) has unveiled the latest version of its Intellectual Property Asset Management System. New to IPAM Version 5.1 are: links to data from the European Patent Office; new visualization technology for 3-D onscreen analysis of intellectual property positioning, and enhanced search and reporting functions. "Nearly every day the business pages brings us news about situations in which the way a company has managed its intellectual property assets has either significantly hurt or helped its performance," said Aberdeen Group

(Boston) senior analyst Bill Hills. IPAM gives companies "a sophisticated system for both evaluation and proactive management of their intellectual property assets." "As legal claims, patents represent the most highly regulated form of intellectual property," according to the Delphi Group (Boston). Applications like IPAM that concentrate on innovative analysis and display techniques rather than unstructured documents will give SmartPatents "early success" and a leg up on the competition.
