SmartPatents Shuffles Executive Management

SmartPatents (Mountain View, CA), a developer of intellectual property asset management systems, has appointed co-founder Kevin Rivette as CEO, and Dan'l Lewin as president. SmartPatents has also announced the placement of a $5 million investment from Battery Ventures

(Wellesley, MA). Lewin, formerly the company's COO, has also been appointed to SmartPatent's board of directors. The appointments will allow the company to enable organizations to "successfully enter the knowledge era," said Lewin, "by aggressively managing their intellectual property assets."
