Smart search and alert

Inxight Software has completed its purchase of the federated search and alert technology product line, formerly called Enterprise Discovery Suite, from Intelliseek. The product line has been renamed Inxight SmartDiscovery Awareness Server.

Inxight explains its new offering is preconfigured out-of-the-box to search and track relevant data from hundreds of online sources, including deep Web sources such as patent databases and SEC filings, as well as public Web sources such as CNET and MSN Search. Enterprises can also create brokers to new information sources rapidly through a point-and-click interface, extending the searching and alerting capabilities to a variety of subscription and enterprise sources.

Inxight says some of the user benefits of the SmartDiscovery Awareness Server include:

  • global search--select from hundreds of pre-configured content sources to perform searches in real time;

  • rich Boolean, proximity and field-based operators--automatically translate and transform users’ queries (using either basic or advanced search) to the form appropriate to each source;

  • single sign-on and authentication--leverage existing SSO and authentication schemes to provide secure access to subscription and other password-protected data sources;

  • de-duplication--eliminate duplicate result records from multiple sources;

  • relevance ranking--sort documents from a variety of sources based on their relevance to users information needs;

  • advanced sorting and filtering options--sort and filter results by relevance, date, source, category or other criteria;

  • “More Like This” searching--highlight an individual result and the system will automatically find other similar results;

  • source suggest--suggest new sources to add to users’ personal search universe based on their queries;

  • collaborative results sharing--share results with others via e-mail, or format for printing and reading offline;

  • search alerts--stay aware of the latest developments related to search queries;

  • page tracking--set page alerts to monitor individual pages for changes; and

  • background searching--configure federated searches to run in the background. The system will notify users with the results when ready.
