Short heads new Excalibur group

Excalibur Technologies (Vienna, VA, http://www.excalib.com

) has formed a business unit to oversee the development, marketing and distribution of the Visual RetrievalWare product line. The Visual Business Group will expand partnerships with companies interested in integrating digital image technologies into their product offerings. RetrievalWare enables indexing, access and retrieval of images based on visual content.

Patrick Condo, CEO, outlines the business unit's mission: "Our goal for the Visual Business Group is to position Excalibur Visual RetrievalWare as the key enabling technology for any and all applications that not only have a need to search, but to retrieve knowledge visually."

Gordon Short, VP and general manager, assumes leadership of the new unit.
