Seventh heaven

SiteScape has released Enterprise Forum 7.0, which is said to offer significant enhancements over previous versions in integration, usability and scalability.

Version 7.0 now runs on a choice of SQL-compliant databases, including Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Oracle 8I and FrontBase, says SiteScape, emphasizing that SQL support provides a more robust development platform and allows SiteScape customers to access information in their legacy systems.

SiteScape has also added collaborative tasks, reminders and bookmarks in version 7.0, allowing users to assign tasks to themselves or others and associate them with groups, discussions, documents or workflows. Users can set a start date, due date, priority, percent complete, assignees and user-definable notification dates, explains SiteScape. Forum reminders can be set to jog your memory of pending activities. Bookmarks provide one-click access to frequently used discussions, documents or calendars, so that the user can return to them easily in the future.

SiteScape claims Enterprise Forum 7.0 facilitates the management large document file systems and folders via two key document management features: round-trip edit (automatic check-in/check-out and versioning) and drag-and drop upload. Additionally, it offers the option of real-time Web conference meetings.

Additional new features include:

  • Enhanced portal support,

  • Section 508/W3C accessibility compliance,

  • more robust workflow capabilities, and

  • Web services integration.
