Search for Exchange

Index Engines is offering to qualified customers a beta version of its Microsoft Exchange e-mail indexing appliance, which is capable of supporting more than a million messages per appliance. The company further reports it can perform full content indexing of e-mails and attachments at speeds of 90 megabytes (approximately 5,000 e-mails) per second and support up to 500 simultaneous user queries per second. Appliances can be clustered for comprehensive enterprisewide e-mail indexing, supporting over 1 billion e-mails, all with sub-second federated search results, says Index Engines.

The company explains that users can search using the appliance’s browser-based interface, which can be accessed using their existing network login, ensuring that the information they have access to is only the information they are permissioned to see. Using keywords, users can query the following fields: To/From/CC/Bcc, Subject, Date, as well as any text contained in the message or the attachment. Additionally, APIs allow companies to take advantage of the index in order to develop value-added applications such as rules-based processes and policies based on message content.
