Scope it out

Offering PC users faster, easier access to more information, Scopeware Vision 1.3 is described as an upgrade to the software tool that helps PC users simplify the way they access and use the information stored on their computers and shared network drives. Scopeware says Vision 1.3 includes enhancements to access more information quickly such as V-Notes, which allow users to save memos into Vision, a quick query bar, support for non-standard file types, and personalization features such as skins and backgrounds.

Users can trial, purchase or upgrade to Scopeware Vision 1.3 at www.scopeware.com. Scopeware offers free upgrades to those who have purchased Scopeware Vision upon the completion of a survey at scopeware.com.

Scopeware reports Vision 1.3 includes these new features and functions:

Skins: Scopeware Vision now allows customers to customize the appearance of the search screen and background and add a personal touch to the software that organizes user information. The software includes several sample skins, and new skins will be available in the coming months at scopeware.com. Vision also allows users to design their own skins.

New views: The List View shows documents and e-mail in a tabular list display. The user can browse this information by placing the cursor over the document title and viewing a thumbnail and description. The Thumbnail View presents documents and e-mail in a tiled thumbnail display. Users can easily switch back and forth among all Scopeware Vision views by selecting icons in the Vision window.

Query bar: A new query bar available on the desktop screen provides quick access to the search bar so users can execute a search without having to launch the main Scopeware Vision application.

V-Notes: For the first time, users may add new content into existing streams that is immediately accessible and searchable. With V-Notes, users can create and insert a note or memo into a stream by directly typing the information, dragging and dropping, or cutting and pasting and then saving this information into Vision.

Backgrounds: Users can now customize and personalize the background of the Scopeware Vision screen using standard image files (jpg, gif, bmp).

Document filters: Users can now specify document filters to integrate non-standard file types with Scopeware Vision. New filters will allow users to incorporate non-supported Vision document types, even obscure file extensions, into searches and resulting Vision streams. Depending on the file type and the filter selected, Vision will index the file name, metadata/properties or even the full content of the file.

Document multiselect: Users can select a series of documents from V-stream search results and process the documents easily. Once the documents are selected, right clicking the mouse allows the user to process the documents (print, delete, open, send, move, etc).

Support for non-administrative users: Version 1.3 allows a single user on a PC to use the product regardless of administrative status.
