Scan-Optics’ net income up 198%

Scan-Optics (Manchester, CT, Nasdaq: SOCR, http://www.scanoptics.com

) reports $14.1 million in revenue for Q2 ’97, a 26% increase over the $11.2 million reported in Q2 ’96. Net income experienced a 198% increase to $1.3 million in Q2 ’97, up from $450,000 in Q2 ’96. In Q2 ’97, Scan-Optics signed contracts exceeding $3 million with four state governments; the company also received orders during the same quarter that exceed $5 million from health care and insurance providers. Agreements made in Q2 ’97 include FileNet, Highland Technologies and Unisys.
