SMS and BSI Unveil Healthcare System

On the heels of its acquisition of Beechwood Software (BSI, Rochester, NY), Shared Medical Systems (SMS, Malvern, PA) has released a suite of products for long-term healthcare providers. The Long-Term Care suite includes a clinical and financial system, as well as system modules specific to long-term care, such as resident trust fund accounting. The system was developed by BSI, a developer of nursing home software acquired by SMS last month. "Both standalone nursing homes and those affiliated with integrated health networks have an increasing need for information systems that help them to better coordinate care and manage costs," said SMS VP Alan Gold.
