Rational acquires Pure Atria

Rational Software (Santa Clara, CA) has entered into an agreement to acquire Pure Atria

(Sunnyvale, CA, http://www.pureatria.com). The deal will enable Rational to focus on the automation of component-based software applications for Windows, Unix and the Internet. Paul Levy will continue as Rational's CEO, Michael Devlin as president and Reed Hastings, CEO of Pure Atria, will become Rational's chief technical officer. The merger is expected to close in Q3 '97, subject to stockholder approval.
