Ramp Unveils New Capabilities and New Branding in VideoVerge for SharePoint Platform

Ramp, a provider of video management and delivery solutions, is adding enhancements to its Ramp VideoVerge for SharePoint platform, as well as renaming products to reflect a new focus on large enterprises in the future.

“Our mission is to enable rich media content, especially video, across the enterprise,” said Stephen Blankenship, vice president of product and operations at Ramp in an interview. “In the enterprise, there’s a missed opportunity right now in that you could have that same level of training, communication, collaboration, storage, and share of knowledge available to you as nothing conveys information more efficiently and quickly than video. YouTube is the proof point of that.”

The company has renamed its SharePoint product line. Ramp VideoVerge for SharePoint, which combines self-service live webcasting and video management on a single, converged, cloud-based platform, includes two products: VideoVerge Manager (previously named Ramp Video Management); and VideoVerge Live (previously named Ramp Video Live).

“We have very much simplified what the products are,” Blankenship said. VideoVerge Manager makes video as searchable as text-based content and watchable across multiple desktop and mobile devices using SharePoint, while VideoVerge Live provides self-service webcasting from within SharePoint without the need for IT assistance

These products will help enterprises gain more business value from their video content, while enabling SharePoint users to communicate more productively, according to the vendor. New VideoVerge features include the addition of SharePoint 2016 compatibility (in addition to SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2013); the ability to import video libraries from any source and publish them as SharePoint documents; automated multi-language translation; and the ability to integrate an interactive user view leveraging Yammer and other Microsoft tools, managed using SharePoint’s built-in features.

“We’re excited about the offering and how, in a quick period of time, we have optimized it for enterprise use,” Blankenship said. “If you’re an enterprise using SharePoint as your primary content management system, we are hands-down, the best in providing that solution.”
