Powerscan names new president

Star Technologies (Sterling, VA) subsidiary Powerscan

(Potomac, MD) has named Curtis Abel as its new president, replacing John Meshinsky who retired last month. Abel will be in charge of the company's growth and profitability, and day-to-day operations. He will be responsible for building partnerships and relationships with key VARs and systems integrators. Abel previously served as VP of sales and marketing at Mitek (San Diego), and was VP of sales and marketing for Intrafed from 1994-1995. Abel's experience in imaging, recognition and forms processing technologies "will be an invaluable asset," said Star president and CEO Robert Compton, and "will enable him to hit the road running and lead PowerScan to a new level of growth."
