Portals unite!

Epicentric has released Foundation Server 4.0, a stand-alone corporate portal that also includes a site management system and a business application for portal customization and maintenance services.

The company says that by integrating existing portal technology, silo portals and disparate Web sites into a framework for centralized management, Foundation Server 4.0 establishes a system for enterprise portal management. It is said to provide an approach to portal development and management that reduces redundancies and eliminates barriers between portal resources, while enabling users to construct, consolidate and manage Web initiatives across the enterprise.

Epicentric says the product delivers all the packaged functionality required for the initial stage of a portal deployment, as well as the customization, integration and management capabilities necessary to “future-proof” the initiative. The company adds that through its most open and scalable portal applications available, organizations can dynamically generate and manage any number of portals from a Portal Command Center, while distributing site user management, customization services and site maintenance tools to the business user.
