Plumtree locks up deal for portal security

Plumtree has inked a deal that enables integration of Netegrity's SiteMinder platform with the Plumtree Corporate Portal. The agreement will allow joint customers to take advantage of policy-based security and management to create centrally defined policies for single sign-on and authorization across the portal and other applications within the enterprise. The SiteMinder platform also allows portal administrators to offer and manage a variety of authentication methods for logging into the Plumtree Corporate Portal and other applications.

The partnership gives joint customers the following capabilities:

* Centralized management: Provides single sign-on to the corporate network and extends that security to the Plumtree portal as well as other applications.

* Entitlement management: Consolidates security administration, creating a single, centralized way to manage user access and permissions to the portal and other applications.

* Affiliate services: Provides enhanced security for the syndication of Plumtree Portal Gadgets, plug-in modules that embed components of applications and interactive Internet services in the portal to other Web sites.

* Authentication management: Integrates with additional authentication methods for customers that rely on mechanisms such as public key infrastructure (PKI) technology, password management, smartcards, custom forms and biometric capabilities, such as retinal scanning, to log in to the Plumtree Corporate Portal and other enterprise applications.

* Delegated Management Services (DMS): Enables organizations to delegate user administration to their business partners, remote business units and users.
