Peoplesoft releases new version of SCM product

PeopleSoft (Pleasanton, CA) has released a new version of its supply chain management product. Peoplesoft Version 7.5 offers new solutions for Order Promising, Demand Planning, and Quality, remote order entry for standard and configured orders, and support for IBM's AS/400 platform. Features include multi-currency (including the euro) and language support for customer and supplier documents, invoices and reports, and access to customer information including purchase history, order status and credit information. Also new in this version are automatic sourcing across the entire supply chain, and the ability to collect and review process control data, with built in workflow. "PeopleSoft 7.5 gives manufacturers and distributors the information they need to effectively manage global operations," said Jeff Carr, GM for PeopleSoft's Manufacturing Business Unit. The system, available in Q2 '98, will lead to "more efficient and effective supply chain and production management," he said, "and a significant return on investment for our customers."
