PDQ content management

With promised rapid implementation, what is claimed to be the first content management system “appliance” has been introduced by Swiss-based Obtree Technologies and IBM.

The offering consists of an IBM eServer xSeries, an Apache Webserver, a DB2 database and either the Obtree C3 or C3 ASP content management system. Bundling the components significantly speeds deployment, say the companies.

IBM and Obtree explain that all integration and testing work is completed before installation, providing immediate benefits for customers wanting to introduce Web site content management processes in-house. The companies further claim that in addition to the savings made on outsourcing content management, the cost of purchasing the appliance is significantly lower than buying the components individually.
