Orbital inks deal with Excalibur

The latest version of Orbital’s profiling-based infrastructure software will feature the integration of Excalibur RetrievalWare, a Web-based search application. The companies report the result will make Organik faster and easier for business users to locate, share and reuse knowledge.

Organik directs questions to carefully selected people who are profiled within the system and are known to have knowledge or expertise. Its profiling technology ensures that users' questions are always matched to the right experts. Organik provides tailored answers to specific questions, reducing the amount of time the user has to spend searching through information repositories and databases, thus increasing overall productivity and promoting best-practices adoption.

The RetrievalWare integration will provide multimedia content management solutions that enable users to index and search a wide range of distributed information resources including text, image, video and audio files, HTML, documents, relational database tables, over 200 proprietary document formats (such as word processors and publishing systems) and groupware repositories.

The combination will enable customers to access static data from a wide range of information repositories, as well as capture and share tacit information in the form of questions and answers.
