Optika's web commerce solution gets smarter with XML

A year ago, Optika introduced its eMedia platform for business-to-business e-commerce, managing paper, EDI and Web-based transactions. The system uses extranets to enable supply chain partners to access transaction information, communicate, and resolve difficulties.

According to Eric Jordan, President of UWI.Com, "The integration with Optika eMedia will enable companies to combine InternetForms with more traditional document types. By combining Optika eMedia's strong workflow capabilities with the native intelligence of our InternetForms, processes across the supply chain can be managed more effectively."

The integration allows users to build easy-to-use forms accessible through standard browsers, providing "smart" capabilities that automate the completion and validation of the forms data. Because UWI.Com InternetForms are built on XML, the emerging Internet standard for data interchange, they also include additional "metadata" (information about the form and its contents) used by Optika eMedia systems to automate form processing.

When installed at ARVEST Bank Group (ABG) to automate the process of opening new retail brokerage accounts at a multi-bank holding company the solution will manage company documents, images, electronic forms, COLD reports and workflows. ABG expects to improve customer service levels, increase the efficiency of backoffice operations and meet regulatory requirements cost-effectively by automating various business processes and providing immediate access to central repositories of information.
