Optika shifts its healthcare focus from applications to vendors

Optika (Colorado Springs, CO, http://www.optika.com

) has announced a change in its strategy in the healthcare market. Optika will now provide core technologies to healthcare vendors, instead of creating healthcare-specific applications, president and CEO Mark Ruport announced. To this end, Optika has also announced an agreement with LanVision (Cincinnati, OH, http://www.lanvision.com) to sell its FPhealthcare suite healthcare-specific products, and to pursue future integrations with Optika's FilePower imaging, COLD and workflow software. Existing partnerships with IHS/SoftMed (Sacramento, CA, http://www.ihsinc.com) and Eclipsys (Delray Beach, FL, http://www.eclipsys.com) will also be strengthened. "We are confident that this strategy will result in a more complete solution being provided to the healthcare industry," Ruport said. The news yesterday resulted in a 10% jump in Optika's stock.
