Open Text releases new version of Livelink

Open Text (Waterloo, Ontario) has released Version 8 of its Livelink Intranet collaborate computing product. New features include a new modular architecture, modules for reporting, workflow (implemented in Java), Java-based electronic forms and application development, and an Enterprise Spider that collects and delivers to project teams specified information from a company's intranet. Also new are an enhanced user interface, improved file conversion filters, and new search and channel functionalities. "Livelink 8 strongly positions Open Text to define the collaborative knowledge management marketplace," said Gerry Murray, Research Manager for Document Image and Workflow Management at International Data Corporation

(IDC, Framingham, MA). "Livelink 8 helps organizations get their work done more efficiently and easily than ever before, and everyone reaps the benefits of knowledge management along the way," added Open Text senior marketing VP Abe Kleinfeld. Livelink Version 8 will be available next month; pricing ranges from $100 to $850 per user, depending on volume.
