Open Text names new president

Open Text is the latest document management mover and shaker to shuffle its executive management team. Company president Brett Newbold has left the company after more than a year; former Platinum Technology exec John Shackleton has accepted the position. Shackleton is the former president of Platinum Technology's Solutions division, and has held executive positions at
Oracle and Sybase. Shackleton was also on the management team of early document mnagement pioneer Viewstar (now Mosaix). His experience in the enterprise software industry and success in dynamic global corporate growth fits well with the opportunities at Open Text, according to CEO Tom Jenkins. Shackleton, who will oversee day-to-day operations from the company's Bannockburn, IL offices, sees "tremendous opportunities to further build Open Text's leadership position in the collaborative knowledge management."
