Ohio county offices streamlines recordkeeping with electronic documents

Cuyahoga County's Clerk of Courts plans to reduce costs and time delays while improving efficiency once a new document management system is installed.

The court's criminal division manages and distributes documents and records for all criminal proceedings in Cuyahoga county. Government employees manually distributed those documents and records to various government agencies, lawyers and other authorized individuals, making over 100,000 copies annually.

Using a new document imaging and management system from Treev and Uniscan, any of the court's 25 official users can simultaneously locate, view and print copies of imaged case documents on demand, improving overall information access and operational efficiency.

Finding and duplicating criminal proceeding documents is a critical part of our duty to the citizens, according to Cuyahoga County court representative Gerald Fuerst. "Failure to do so can result in legal action taken against my office."

The new recordkeeping system will give us greater control over our documents, make us more efficient and ultimately more accountable to the public we serve," said Fuerst.
