TransPort from Monarch Imaging Systems

(Iselin, NJ, http://www.monarchis.com) is designed to improve the productivity of PaperPort software users by accessing any ODBC-compliant database, including Microsoft Access, Oracle, Informix, SQL Server and Sybase. According to the developer, TransPort is the only ODBC link for PaperPort, the document imaging interface for Visioneer, Hewlett-Packard and Xerox.

TransPort allows users to store PaperPort scanned documents in almost any database. The software stores document images with summary information, image format and a document ID. It also functions as an image database search-and-retrieval tool for documents and other images that were not originally scanned with PaperPort.

Three different levels of TransPort are available. TransPort Lite, which works with Microsoft Access, is provided at no cost. TransPort Plus ($79 per workstation) also works with Microsoft Access and includes a customizable database and full-text OCR. TransPort Pro ($129) works with any ODBC-compatible database engine and includes full-text OCR.
