Manufacturer opening the door to DM

Door and door product manufacturer Curries Co. (Mason City, IA) is closing the door on the "manila folder" method of job tracking and moving to parts of IBM's EDMSuite.

Finding information quickly, when it was needed was the catalyst.

"In a room full of paper folders, finding the appropriate folder for a given manufacturing job, and having the confidence that the folder was complete became a major business issue," said Tony Sopata, integrator with Midcontinent Business Systems, which is bringing in IBM's VisualInfo for AS/400 and OnDemand for AS/400, as well as Kofax Image Products Ascent Capture 3.

"The AS/400 is our general business computing platform, and our company has made a commitment to continue to leverage that platform," said Walt Muskovich, Curries' Director of MIS.

Muskovich pointed to ease of management, cost-effectiveness and comfort with support over the long term as other reasons for the selection.
