Managing knowledge in forms

An automated data entry system from Gtess (Dallas, TX, http://www.gtess.com) will be distributed to Tye International's (Allen, TX) VARS and systems integrators in Latin America and the Caribbean. The system belongs to the discipline of knowledge management, with a focus on creating an environment that promotes timely communication between the customer and service provider. Bill Feldman, Gtess president, outlines the process: "Through our exclusive 'Knowledge Recognition' technology, the Gtess Automated Data Entry System can automatically recognize, process and correct data, all before the information reaches the screen."

The software automates the processing of scanned or faxed images on a form and subsequently produces ASCII data from the information fields on the form. Hand print, machine print, check box, OMR and barcode data are all readable using the system. Data capture is taken beyond simple imaging, which Feldman views as "only half of the solution for labor intensive data entry problems."
