MSN honcho joins DocSpace as corporate strategist

DocSpace has appointed former MSN.com general manager Michael Mathieu to help shape the future of its Web-based file transfer services.

As docSpace's new Corporate Strategist, Mathieu will help shape the company's vision and direction, develop strategic partnerships and identify new market opportunities.

For nine years Mathieu was GM of Microsoft's MSN.com network, now the third-most popular network on the Web, and spearheaded Microsoft's acquisition of Hotmail. Mathieu also helped form the first Microsoft Office development team, and was a project manager for Microsoft FrontPage, Word and Excel.

Mathieu, whose "thinking and leadership led to business directions for Microsoft that changed the software and Internet landscape," according to docSpace CEO Evan Chrapko, was equally complimentary of docSpace's potential.

"The suite of secure file services that docSpace has created stands to entirely change the way businesses interact with their customers," said Mathieu. "DocSpace has picked up where Hotmail left off, creating a new killer app for the business-to-business market."
