Liquent and Software AG partner

In an agreement designed to meet customer e-business needs, Liquent (formerly known as ESPS) and Software AG have signed a deal to deliver infrastructure consisting of an XML transformation engine, XML database and other supporting tools. The offering will combine Liquent’s Xtent technology and Software AG’s Tamino product line.

The two companies report that customers will be able to automatically retrieve both structured and unstructured content from their existing data and content repositories and transform the content using Xtent into an XML format that is “baselined” into the Tamino XML database. Companies can then use this baseline to meet their ongoing requirements to search, assemble and transform information for consumption by employees, customers, partners and electronic systems.

Liquent explains that Xtent is an automated content transformation engine that can be integrated into both existing enterprise environments and other software products. Tamino is a native XML database for Internet database management capable of storing XML documents without transformation to other formats.
