Life in the FastLane

In a move to help facilitate implementation of KM infrastructure, Quest Software has developed its Enterprise Migration Program to help network and exchange administrators expedite their Windows 2000 and Exchange 2000 migrations. Quest is making the new version of FastLane DM/Manager available free of charge through June to prospects and channel partners for a 12-month period after registration.

Quest reports DM/Manager 5.5 features include:

  • a migration guide that provides a step-by-step explanation of the incremental migrations of users, groups and computers to Active Directory;

  • improved project management, including support for replicated SQL Server database infrastructures, allowing multiple geographically distributed migration teams to perform their activities locally but have all their actions tracked centrally;

  • Integration with the Active Directory Connector (ADC), enabling migration to Exchange 2000 and accommodating additional migration scenarios; and

  • migration mapping technology, which is said to deliver more robust capabilities to consolidate data from multiple external sources during the migration to Active Directory to minimize administration costs.
