Launching Discovery from 80-20

The Bellevue-WA-based 80-20 Software rolls out Discovery, what it says is a new generation, server-based, concept-retrieval product that doubles retrieval accuracy. Discovery arranges information located on an intranet or the Internet according to concepts rather than keywords or pre-defined category trees.

80-20 says Discovery delivers the correct answer to a query in the first 10 search results because of its intuitive technology. Moreover, it adds, the software program organizes and instantly retrieves information, in any format, giving users the power to find critical content quickly and easily.

80-20 Discovery incorporates the firm’s Darwin concept retrieval technology, which employs patented algorithms. These adaptive, self-generating neural network algorithms match concepts in the question with similar concepts within the content itself other commercial search technologies that retrieve information based on pre-established (and, in 80-20 says, typically manually input) parameters or keywords.
