Kofax Posts Preliminary Q2 '98 Results
Kofax Image Products (Irvine, CA) reports preliminary Q2 '98 revenue of $7.8 million to $8.1 million, nearly $1 million lower than analyst's estimates. Forcasted revenue compares to Q1 '98 revenue of $7,851,000. A slowdown in accelerator business is blamed for the shortfall, according to CEO David Silver, as well as production difficulties at "a major vendor of imaging scanners" which are expected to be fixed within the next two quarters. "The reason for the slowdown may be that today's PC does not require a video card to crunch images," said Tony McKinley, consultant with Intelligent Imaging
(Berwyn, PA). Additionally, the Adrenaline line of accelerator boards "is ramping up more slowly than we expected," said Silver, leading to less revenue than expected from the SCSI market. Final Q2 '98 results will be posted on January 22.el-Pro k
