Knowledge sharing gives bottom-line benefits to Cap Gemini

Global consultancy Cap Gemini wanted to give all its 38,000 employees quick access to information in its six regional intranets, global intranet and the Internet.

"Cap Gemini was founded on principals of achievement and business excellence," said Ian Lundberg, IT director for Cap Gemini. "It's very important that staff be able to leverage best practices throughout our global organization."

To leverage the vast knowledge throughout the company's intranets and the Internet, Cap Gemini is implementing Dataware's Query Server.

The new system will give Cap Gemini employees access to a global repository of information, quickly fulfilling requests for information which can then be leveraged as knowledge. "This is a strong, bottom-line business advantage for Cap Gemini," added Lundberg.

The system implementation is currently underway, and is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 1999
