Knowledge: an NLQ away

SER Solutions has developed a discovery and delivery application that responds to simple natural language queries rather than Boolean keyword or index-based requests. Powered by the neural network technology of the SERbrainware engine, software analyzes the content and context of information, not just keywords or phrases.

The company says SERglobalBrain:

  • is easy to implement through a browser-based interface;

  • streamlines business processes and reduces cycle times with knowledge delivery to provide employees with the right information at the right time;

  • retrieves information from existing ERP, database and CRM data repositories, in addition to populating these repositories; and

  • scales to meet the knowledge capture and collaboration needs of global enterprises.

The company adds that incorrect spelling does not adversely affect retrieval performance because the software does not require exact matches in text patterns; it instead uses an associative access method for content-based retrieval unequal in speed and accuracy. The software can also be taught to act on or deliver answers that meet specific content or criteria by pushing or pulling information off designated Internet sites. In addition, SERglobalBrain is language independent because it looks for patterns and meanings, rather than just keywords and phrases.

SERglobalBrain is available in three versions:

  • The Personal Edition allows access to all personal information repositories, including hard drive and network-based file systems and formats, supporting Microsoft office documents, e-mail and scanned document images.

  • The Enterprise Edition enables direct access to centralized repositories for group, departmental, site and enterprisewide knowledge sharing and dissemination.

  • The Public Edition provides access to centralized repositories accessible via Internet for global knowledge consumption, including extranet, industry and research collaboration as well as communities of interest and news services.
