KM to speed SARS vaccine

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) Accelerated Vaccine Initiative (SAVI), a project recently funded by the government of British Columbia will use Knexa’s technology to help co-ordinate research activities such as vaccine formulation, genomics and immunology.

Knexa’s reports its Web-based KM solution will help SAVI:

  • share knowledge online quickly and easily,

  • create a centralized knowledgebase of documents and expert profiles,

  • deploy virtual workspaces for research teams,

  • quickly identify domain experts,

  • centralize and streamline communications and project management information, and

  • facilitate an open forum for exchange of ideas.

The SAVI initiative is led by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control which, as part of the Provincial Health Services Authority, has played a key role in the management of the SARS outbreak in B.C. Dr. Brett Finlay will oversee the initiative. Under the project, many vaccine development activities that would normally run sequentially will run concurrently to accelerate the process.
