JDA Software Unveils Warehouse Management Solution

JDA Software (Phoenix) has unveiled a software package for managing and automating warehouse processes in the retail supply chain. The Warehouse Control Center, a client/server warehouse automation and management package, directly stems from JDA's acquisition of LIOCS

(Lombard, IL) in April 1997. "We designed WCC to help companies optimize productivity, accuracy and inventory turnover at the warehouse," said Mike Andelman, JDA's VP of logistics. The system controls inbound and outbound functions ranging from arrival entry, intra-warehouse movements and a detail transaction ledger to packing and shipping, inter-warehouse transfers, document management and system security. Current WCC users include The Pampered Chef, an Addison, IL-based seller of high-quality kitchen tools, and communications technology supplier 3Com (Santa Clara, CA), which has seen decreased transaction times and improved accuracy since installing WCC. "We now have up-to-the-minute information which enables us to make quick and informed decisions to improve our inventory tracking," said Gordon Lambert, warehouse manager for 3Com's manufacturing division.
