J.D. Edwards rolls out Content Manager

Now available on a limited basis, Content Manager from J.D. Edwards is said to be the only solution on the market to manage multi-lingual, enterprise-class content through Microsoft Office. The company reports Content Manager permits the creation of a single content repository that can be used by a company's worldwide network of offices, partners and customers. General availablity is expected later this spring.

Content Manager’s architecture is designed to work with memory and terminology translation technologies such as Trados and enables multi-lingual content development and publishing. Also new to enterprise content management, J.D. Edwards claims, is the software’s ability to allow different departments to share and reuse content components, not just whole documents, for multiple output formats such as print, Web and CD-ROM.

The company explains that Content Manager features data-based content with flexible metadata, intelligent searching, check-in/check-out of content, output to compound documents, content relationship management, link management, revision and version control and HTML for Web content, as well as configurable workflow and integrated translation strategy. It’s also designed to integrate with existing information workflow processes.
