Intel unveils e-commerce tools

Intel claims its NetStructure 7280 XML and Director 7210 XML Accelerator control and direct Internet transactions 150 times faster than previously possible. The new devices fit into e-Business data center racks used by hosting service providers (HSPs) and application service providers (ASPs), as well as at companies choosing to operate their own e-business data centers. The two products are easily adapted to quickly meet changing business priorities.

NetStructure 7280 XML combines the acceleration of security functions, control of XML transactions and "XML transaction roll-back" (resubmitting failed XML transactions to another server for processing) in a single device. Using a patent-pending rules-based engine, the 7280 identifies and classifies incoming XML requests based on specific elements within the XML transactions. Once classified, it validates, prioritizes and directs the most important XML requests based on criteria such as trading partner, transaction value, unit volume, time sensitivity or any other characteristic.

The 7210 XML Accelerator is a network device that reads and classifies XML information. It uses the same rules-based engine as the 7280 to manage the data center workload based on XML requests. The device works in conjunction with Intel or third party switches, load balancers or traffic managers to direct transactions to the sever best able to process the transaction. Up to five 7210 XML Accelerators can be linked together to further improve performance.

The units are due to ship in quantity this fall.
