Integrating Enigma and IBM

Enigma and IBM have combined on a solution designed to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and operators of capital equipment the ability to combine decision support systems and e-commerce solutions for their aftermarket management needs.

The company reports the offering combines IBM’s WebSphere, Content Manager, SecureWay system and MQ-Series with Enigma’s 3C Platform to improve OEM-operator relationships, increase aftermarket services and boost spare parts revenue.

The companies say IBM’s e-business applications integrated with Enigma’s 3C Platform allow manufacturers to create and securely deliver an extensible Web-based application that combines parts illustrations, service bulletins, thousands of maintenance manual pages and parts catalogs to operators of their equipment.

The joint solution increases the commerce and communications elements by creating a more secure channel for accessing content and placing orders. In addition, it keeps the application’s users, mechanics and engineers who are maintaining and repairing the machinery, in touch with each other and the OEM through real-time messaging capabilities, both companies report.

As a result, OEMs have an enhanced e-business platform that ties them closer to their customers (operators) and channel partners to drive additional spare parts sales. In turn, equipment operators can improve maintenance processes, streamline parts ordering and reduce costly equipment downtime.
