Insurdata Acquires Majority Interest in Satellite Image Systems

Insurdata (Irving, TX) has acquired a majority interest in Satellite Image Systems

, a claims processing firm based in Salt Lake City. SIS, formerly owned by Magellan Technology, provides electronic claims processing services of medical claims for major insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia. The deal will provide additional support and development for Insurdata's Insur-Image ICR and data verification system, and boosts their outsourcing capabilities. "Working with Satellite Image, we will expand our efforts to make that technology available to clients on a functional outsourcing basis, offering a complete, turn-key system for electronic claims processing," said Insurdata president and CEO Dennis Maloney. "For us to have direct access to Insurdata's technology and the developers behind it gives us a significant competitive advantage in the marketplace," added SIS CEO Darwin Millet.
