Insurance extranet blankets sales offices with information

Canadian life insurance company Royal & SunAlliance Financial (Royal) is using an extranet to give its outside sales force a leg up on the competition.

Royal's extranet, Fieldlink, gives remote salespeople fast access to comprehensive information including new business requirements and policy inquiry searches. Fieldlink uses the Lotus Notes/Domino platform and Unifi intranet architecture from DWL Incorporated.

Fieldlink also connects to legacy mainframe systems using IBM MQSeries server technology and a direct TCP/IP connection instead of a SNA-TCP/IP gateway, cutting down on response times.

With the system Royal sales offices can provide more personalized and effective service to both new and existing customers.

Thom Hopkins, VP of MGA Operations at Royal & SunAlliance Financial, is confident that Fieldlink "will result in improved customer satisfaction and increased sales.
