Inso Acquires Swedish SGML Outfit
Inso (Boston) has purchased Synex Information AB (Stockholm) and its parent organization, ViewPort Development AB, for $2.5 million. The acquisition will be written off as a one-time charge, estimated to be between $1.8 and $2.2 million, reflected in Inso's consolidated Q1 '98 earnings. Synex offers a ViewPort browser engine and application development toolkits for viewing SGML information. Also included in the acquisition is technology currently under R&D. The acquisition "expands the scope of the electronic publishing solutions Inso can offer, particularly in the interactive electronic technical manual (IETM) market," said Graham Marshall, GM of Inso's Electronic Publishing Solutions development organization.
