Inking a document deal
80-20 Software has released its Document Manager for IBM. 80-20 reports Document Manager is an enterprise-scale content management system designed for e-mail, attachments, documents, Web pages, XML files and rich media through a common content platform and the IBM DB2 repository.
80-20 claims Document Manager uses DB2 to cut corporate storage requirements by up to 50% through removal of data duplication. The announcement signals another move from 80-20’s previously exclusive relationship with Microsoft.
80-20 adds that Document Manager’s single-instance storage system turns a relational database from a simple store into a management infrastructure for all enterprise data. By creating and maintaining just one copy of every document, 80-20 believes, companies eliminate the duplication that causes most storage overload problems.
